The Fashion Design Programme will qualify you to handle design processes and to choose your materials with confidence. You will learn to work with trend research and analysis to help the creation of innovative designs for the fashion industry. Of course, the programme will also equip you to keep in mind the identity of the company you work for, helping you stay true to their vision.
You will acquire competences in working creatively and visually with idea generation and in preparing graphical presentation material. All to a high level. You will also acquire competences in working towards a specific objective and in taking responsibility for influencing the design of the future. You will develop your own design identity. And you will get the skills necessary to handle new challenges so that you feel at home on the global fashion scene.
There is a possibility to take third semester in Shanghai, where you study at Dong Hua University and take your work placement in a local company. Shanghai is China’s largest and most modern city. Shanghai is the centre of design, fashion and business and today most major European fashion houses are present in Shanghai. The classes taken in Shanghai will be transferred to your study programme in Denmark. This means that you get full credit for your semester in Shanghai. VIA University College is already making a huge effort to help international students find internships and jobs in Denmark. For several years, our Career Service Centre has been offering VIA students help and guidance in searching for jobs and internships in Denmark by offering workshops on “how to write a CV”,or “how to write an application”. The Centre also organizes company dating – a campus fair where students get to meet a lot of Danish companies to hear more about career opportunities. The Career Service Centre is currently intensifying these activities in response to both the Ministry’s and VIA’s wish for international students to remain in Denmark after graduation. We will be offering graduates even more events and opportunities to meet the companies, just as the opening hours at the Career Service Centre have been extended and more seminars will be held. We want our international students to experience that access to the Danish companies and to the Danish labour market will be even easier in the future.
