My decision to study abroad was strongly influenced by a professional internship in Malta. After returning home and successfully completing my previous studies, I already knew that I wanted my next step to be international.
I wanted to see more of the world, experience different cultures, and gain the kind of life experience that cannot be learned from books alone.
I chose Denmark because, while studying advertising production, one of my lecturers mentioned that some of the strongest preparation in advertising-related fields could be found in Denmark and the United Kingdom. Since tuition in Scandinavian countries is free for EU students, Denmark became the most attractive option for me.
The admission process was quite straightforward, and the Kastu team helped me greatly throughout it. Their support made the application much easier and allowed me to focus on preparing for the move itself.
My first months in Denmark have been fantastic.
The study system is completely different from what I had experienced before. Everything feels new: the teaching methods, the environment, the people, and the culture.
At the same time, studying abroad is one major challenge that you overcome step by step. You need to adapt to unfamiliar situations, communicate in another language, meet new people, and learn how to organise your life independently.
But that is exactly what makes the experience so valuable.
Every new challenge teaches you something about yourself. You become more confident, more flexible, and more willing to try things that once seemed intimidating.
The new friendships and international environment are also a major part of the experience. Meeting people from different cultures changes the way you see the world and helps you understand that there are many different ways to think, work, and live.
My advice to students finishing Secondary School is to remember that this is often a period of searching for yourself.
You may not yet know exactly what profession you want, what kind of person you want to become, or where your strongest interests truly lie. That is normal.
Sometimes the best way to discover your direction is to choose a programme that genuinely interests you and give yourself the chance to experience it. You may realise that it is exactly the right path for you, or you may discover a completely new one.
Studying abroad is not only a decision about education. It is also a chance to understand yourself better.
To everyone considering this step, I would say: do not be afraid of challenges. The beginning may feel unfamiliar, but every step helps you grow.
Be curious, stay open, and give yourself the opportunity to discover how much more is possible.
