History and English
This programme will allow you to combine the study of history and English. You will study at a World Heritage Site, itself a living legacy of British scientific, maritime and imperial history, as well as a thriving multicultural centre of contemporary Britain. The history pathway explores a wide range of historical topics, from global events to community history, and from witchcraft to the World Wars. You will also have the opportunity to develop your research skills and to develop practical and professional skills through a work placement.
The English element of the programme emphasises literature of the last two centuries, including drama and visual narratives as well as fiction and poetry, visual art, film and theatre. The programme looks at the historical, social and cultural contexts in which texts are produced and received.
Both disciplines take full advantage of our culturally and historically rich location and proximity to central London. Visits to theatres, art galleries and museums are integral to many of our courses.
The aims of the programme are:
- To provide students with a substantial grounding in modern British, European and world history
- To provide a grounding in English literature from the Renaissance to the present day
- To nurture the development of open, creative and critical thinkers who are able to apply these qualities of mind in a variety of intellectual contexts
- To provide a structure and an environment in which skills relevant to citizenship, employability, and lifelong learning may be developed.
Przynajmniej 75% z trzech przedmiotów z matury na poziomie podstawowym i przynajmniej 70% z dwóch przedmiotów na poziomie rozszerzonym. Uwaga: niektóre kierunki mogą mieć wyższe wymagania.
Świadectwo ukończenia drugiej klasy (liceum) lub trzeciej klasy (technikum) – załącz ten dokument jeśli wciąż się uczysz i dlatego nie masz jeszcze świadectwa ukończenia szkoły średniej. Nie musisz załączać tłumaczenia tego dokumentu.
Świadectwo dojrzałości oraz świadectwo ukończenia szkoły średniej – w przypadku ukończenia szkoły średniej wystarczy, że do formularza aplikacyjnego załączysz świadectwo dojrzałości (maturalne) wraz ze świadectwem ukończenia liceum (bądź technikum) - do obu tych dokumentów potrzebne jest też tłumaczenie przysięgłe.
Ważne jest, by uczelnia otrzymała wyniki testu z języka angielskiego do 31 lipca.
Spełnienie wymagań w zakresie języka angielskiego można udokumentować w następujący sposób:
Rozszerzona matura z języka angielskiego zdana na przynajmniej 75%
IELTS - 6.0
TOEFL – 80

Graduates can pursue careers in research, teaching, administration and government, librarianship and information services, museums and heritage management, journalism, publishing, the media or arts.
