Students of BMid (Hons) Midwifery at Swansea University graduate as highly skilled professionals who have the clinical expertise and interpersonal skills to ensure optimum physical and emotional well-being during women’s pregnancies, childbirth and early parenthood.
Student midwives work towards providing a service which is effective and satisfying for women and their families. Many women are cared for exclusively by midwives throughout their pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period. Midwifery is therefore a very responsible career, but it has incredible rewards to offset the dedication required.

Midwifery knowledge is extensive and includes aspects of bioscience, sociology, psychology, law, politics, social policy and ethics. Both human and scientific concepts are incorporated into a challenging and stimulating learning experience.
The programme is designed to build upon student midwives’ strengths so that students become professional and motivated practitioners.
Średnia z matury: 70%-85% (z uwzględnieniem przynajmniej dwóch przedmiotów na poziomie rozszerzonym). Dodatkowe wymagania dotyczące matury są zależne od wybranego kierunku.
Świadectwo ukończenia drugiej klasy (liceum) lub trzeciej klasy (technikum) – załącz ten dokument jeśli wciąż się uczysz i dlatego nie masz jeszcze świadectwa ukończenia szkoły średniej. Nie musisz załączać tłumaczenia tego dokumentu.
Świadectwo dojrzałości oraz świadectwo ukończenia szkoły średniej – w przypadku ukończenia szkoły średniej wystarczy, że do formularza aplikacyjnego załączysz świadectwo dojrzałości (maturalne) wraz ze świadectwem ukończenia liceum (bądź technikum) - do obu tych dokumentów potrzebne jest też tłumaczenie przysięgłe.
Ważne jest, by uczelnia otrzymała wyniki testu z języka angielskiego do 31 lipca.
Spełnienie wymagań w zakresie języka angielskiego można udokumentować w następujący sposób:
IELTS - 6.0
TOEFL – 80
rozszerzona matura z języka angielskiego na przynajmniej 70%

Several of our most recently qualified students have been successful in attaining midwifery posts in different maternity units across England, as well as Wales. Other alumni have been successful in becoming Specialist Midwives in London, winning prestigious research scholarships, and working abroad in, for example, Australia.
Promotion prospects for Swansea University graduate midwives are very good, with midwives commonly achieving Band 6 grading (Agenda for Change) after one year of continuous practice as a midwife in the NHS.
The Swansea University BMid (Hons) Midwifery qualification is highly valued in other countries, and could enable our graduates to work abroad, e.g. in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
There may also be opportunities for short international/national placements during the third year of the programme.
Our student midwives will have experience of several role dimensions in midwifery, including working independently, working in the community or in hospitals and birth centres.
Midwives also often take up specialist roles in areas such as teenage pregnancy, substance misuse, breast feeding, sexual health, high risk care, antenatal education, antenatal screening and homebirth.
Midwives also undertake research, write journal papers and books, they may also work in teaching or in management.
