Hi, future student!
My name is Agnė, and not long ago I was exactly where you are now—trying to decide what, where, and how to study. Looking back, choosing to study abroad was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I hope my story helps you take the next step with confidence.
At school in Lithuania, I was always interested in mathematics and science, but I also loved creativity. I spent many years competing in ballroom dancing and attended an art school at the same time. Balancing everything wasn't always easy, but it taught me discipline, determination, and the confidence to challenge myself.
I first heard about Kastu while I was still in school. The idea of studying abroad immediately caught my attention. I wanted to see what universities in Denmark were really like before making such an important decision.
In my final year of high school, I joined one of Kastu's study trips to Denmark. Visiting the universities, exploring the campuses, and talking to students who were already studying there completely changed my perspective. Everything suddenly felt real. By the time I returned home, I knew Denmark was where I wanted to study.
I started preparing my application and registered for an English language test. I applied to several universities, hoping to study Communication. Unfortunately, I missed the required English test score by just one point. I was disappointed and began to question whether studying abroad was still possible.
Thankfully, I didn't give up.
I took the English test again a few months later and achieved the score I needed. During that time, I also discovered a programme called Global Business Engineering at VIA University College. The combination of business, communication, and international perspectives seemed like a much better fit for me.
After my interview, I received the news I had been hoping for—I was accepted.
Before moving to Denmark, I joined one of Kastu's student camps, where I met other students who would soon be starting the same adventure. By the time I arrived, I already knew people, which made the transition much easier.
My first days in Denmark were exciting. I quickly realised that student life was much more international than I had imagined. My first roommate was from Italy, my classmates came from all over the world, and everyone was incredibly open and welcoming.
The university itself impressed me from the very beginning. The lecturers were approachable, classes were interactive, and students were encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and work together. It was a completely different learning experience from what I had known before.
Outside the classroom, there were countless opportunities to get involved. I joined student activities, helped organise events for new students, and even became part of the student organisation. Later, I found a part-time job, which helped me gain work experience while supporting my living expenses.
Of course, moving abroad wasn't always easy. Everything was new—the language, the administrative paperwork, and adapting to a different culture. But every challenge helped me become more independent and confident.
Looking back today, I can honestly say that studying abroad changed my life. It gave me an international education, lifelong friendships, and experiences that I would never have had if I had stayed in my comfort zone.
