Radboud University is renowned for its research and teaching in the field of linguistics. Many of our courses offer a mix of theoretical and practical knowledge: courses situate insights from linguistic and language acquisition theory within the context of everyday communication and contemporary language use. This content is reflected in Language Variation and Multilingualism, where you have the opportunity to develop a unique profile by specialising in your field of interest. Besides our programme Language Variation and Multilingualism, Radboud University offers two content specific Master's in Dutch as a Second Language and Language and Speech Pathology (in Dutch).

This content is reflected in General Linguistics where you have the opportunity to develop a unique profile by specialising in your field of interest. Besides that, Radboud University offers the two content specific Master's in Language and Commuication Coaching and Taal-en spraakpathologie (Dutch).

Specialisation

 

Language Variation and Multilingualism. In this Master's specialisation, you learn to become a competent linguist who has an understanding of language variation and multilingualism, two central and interrelated topics within linguistics.

Wymagania rekrutacyjne

Na studia magisterskie mogą kandydować wszyscy, którzy ukończyli studia licencjackie lub inżynierskie (studia I stopnia), studia magisterskie lub studiują na ostatnim roku studiów I-stopnia. Studia, które planujesz powinny mieć zbliżony profil do tych obecnych lub ukończonych, ponieważ w procesie rekrutacji kluczowa jest ich zgodność programowa.

  • Wykaz punktów ECTS – osoby, które są jeszcze w trakcie studiów, muszą załączyć wypis punktów ECTS, w którym będzie wykazane, jakie przedmioty były realizowane na studiach oraz ile punktów za nie otrzymano.
  • Dyplom ukończenia studiów licencjackich lub inżynierskich – jeśli jesteś absolwentem wyższej uczelni, nie potrzebujesz wypisu, wystarczy załączyć dyplom ukończenia studiów wraz z suplementem (w języku angielskim lub oryginał z tłumaczeniem)
  • Uwaga! Każdy kierunek magisterski może mieć inne wymagania i wymagać specyficznych dodatkowych dokumentów. Przed aplikacją sprawdź na stronie uczelni, jakich dokumentów potrzebujesz! 
Wymagania odnośnie języka angielskiego

Spełnienie wymagań w zakresie języka angielskiego można udokumentować w następujący sposób:

  • IELTS – 6.5
  • TOEFL - 90
Dodatkowe wymagania

A Bachelor degree in Linguistics or equivalent.
Requirements for language-specific programmes:

  • Dutch linguistics: a university Bachelor degree in Dutch language and culture.
  • German linguistics: a university Bachelor degree in German language and culture.
  • English language and linguistics: a university Bachelor degree in English language and culture
  • French linguistics: a university Bachelor degree in French Language and Culture.
  • Spanish linguistics: a university Bachelor degree in Spanish Language and Culture.
  • Language and Communication Coaching: a university Bachelor degree in Business Communication Studies, English language and culture, or an equivalent. An admission committee will be formed under the responsibility of the Examination Board of the Master's in Linguistics.

Linguistics: general and language-specific
The programme in Linguistics prepares for jobs in which linguistic knowledge is applied (language policy, language testing, development of educational material, jobs in communication and publishing companies). There is a wide range of opportunities for graduates from this programme. You could work in education, in academic research, in a care institution or in ICT.

Language and Communication coaching
Graduates of the Master's specialisation Language and Communication Coaching work as:

  • heads of their own business
  • language and communication coaches for a language institute, communication office, teacher training programme, institute for secondary education
  • advisors to an education consultancy
  • developers of language tests
  • policy staff members for international offices
  • refresher course developers for English teachers (all levels)
  • developers of learning tools (also digital) and curricula (also online) for English
  • English editors, text writer (for instance websites in English) or text coach
  • education quality control officers
  • managers or heads of department in language institute, translation agency, etc.
  • project researchers (for instance into language acquisition processes, educational efficiency, learning method, specific components of language learning processes (pronunciation, etc.)
  • English language specialists or consultants working in business or for the government
